last quarter of 2009, after the flood
whew! glad that was over. well this past few weeks have been a series of firsts to me. first i received a subpoena, second our house got submerged in a flood. life has given me a hell of an experience. two days stuck upstairs at our second floor with Ane and the kids. Not to mention the neighbors whom we had let in the house for them to get out of danger. How can you refuse right? It involves kids. So i had to let them in even if they were total strangers to me. I lived here for more than three years now and there are only a few whom i talk to around the neighborhood. That flood did give me a hell of a scare. I saw water level rise in less than an hour. houses submerged in less than an hour. Yeah. That is over now. But what i can not forget and probably should not be surprised about is how and when the help came to our aid. The flood happened sometime around late Saturday morning. Guess when the help came? 2 am Monday. And the greatest thing about it? The local government made the people go out their houses, through the flood, which was already down below knee level, just to have a cup of rice which comes with Sarsarap, a brand that introduced rice sauce toppings in the country in case you do not have any money to buy meat, fish or vegetables that will go along with rice. Fantastic. I just wonder where our taxes go. I just imagine in case we never had any food or water for two days, we were already dying of starvation and dehydration even before the help came.
